Resumen

Al proyectar la restauración de un antiguo club náutico ubicado a orillas de la Bahía de Cienfuegos, la compañía Cubanacán S.A incluyó entre sus objetivos el acondicionamiento del sector costero inmediato para su uso recreativo. Para ello solicitó al Instituto de Oceanología la realización de un estudio, orientado a identificar y evaluar las acciones necesarias para la creación de una playa artificial en dicho tramo de costa, rehabilitándolo además desde el punto de vista estético y ambiental. El trabajo desarrollado se orienta al análisis de aquellos elementos que intervienen de manera decisiva en el funcionamiento del sistema costero, determinando su evolución. Los resultados obtenidos no sugieren la posibilidad de que en esta zona pueda formarse o mantenerse alguna playa por procesos naturales, sin embargo indican el predominio de condiciones favorables para la estabilidad de un perfil creado de manera artificial. Se describe una serie de acciones de acondicionamiento del litoral, encaminadas a su saneamiento ambiental y su preparación para la conformación de la playa aplicando la alimentación artificial de arena. Puede preverse la creación de un área de sol con capacidad para asimilar más de 40 bañistas al mismo tiempo y con un máximo confort, el mejoramiento de las condiciones del fondo y la conformación de una duna de poca altura como elemento paisajístico, todo lo cual le confiere al área un ambiente acogedor, favorable para su explotación turística.

Abstract

The company Cubanacan S.A, when projecting the restoration of an old nautical club beside the Bay of Cienfuegos, has included among its goals the creation of appropriate conditions for the recreational use of the immediate coastal sector. According to this objective it was requested to the Institute of Oceanology the realization of this study to identify and evaluate the required actions for the creation of an artificial beach in the immediate coast, also rehabilitating their aesthetic and environmental conditions. The work is guided to the analysis of the elements that intervene with a major influence in the processes which determine the coastal evolution. The results don’t indicate the possibility that in this zone can be formed or endure a beach by natural processes, however is evident the prevalence of favorable conditions for the stability of a artificially created profile. Several tasks, which allow the restoration of the environmental conditions in the coastal zone and its preparation to assimilate the creation of the beach by means of sand fill is proposed. Is foreseen the creation of a solarium with capacity to assimilate more than 40 users at the same time and with a maximum comfort, besides the improvement of the conditions of the bottom and the creation of a low dune, elements that confers to the area an attractive appearance and favorable for the tourist activities.
