Resumen

Los estudios de las ciencias ambientales intentan, cada vez más, la cuantificación de las características ambientales de una región, con la selección de indicadores que representen aspectos de la calidad ambiental del territorio. Para la ejecución de este trabajo se tomó el enfoque novedoso propuesto por el proyecto ELANEM (Red euro-latinoamericana de monitorización y evaluación ambiental) que se lleva a cabo por un equipo multidisciplinario de diez universidades y centros de investigación Europeos y Latinoamericanos dentro del programa INCO de la Unión Europea.

Con el objetivo de aplicar una metodología consistente en determinar la calidad ambiental del territorio del municipio de Bauta, mediante la elección de un conjunto de índices cuantitativos, se tomó como base de trabajo los materiales e informaciones facilitadas por el gobierno y los diferentes organismos e instituciones del territorio. Este objetivo está dado por la necesidad de diseñar modelos de desarrollo, sostenibles en términos socioeconómicos y ambientales, que pueden ser evaluados por indicadores concretos de aplicación general, significativos y sencillos de obtener.

Como resultado se obtuvieron un grupo de indicadores de presión, estado y respuesta para cada una de las cualidades abordadas: Grado de Naturalidad, Fuente, Sumidero y soporte/servicio, asignándose a todos los indicadores cinco niveles del valor correspondiente y aplicando los índices de calidad ambiental a cada una de estas cualidades, obteniéndose con la aplicación de una media aritmética la calidad ambiental de la unidad territorial del municipio Bauta.

Abstract

The trend of studies of the environmental sciences is the quantification of the environmental characteristics of the region, with the selection of indicators that it represent aspects of the environmental quality of the territory. For the execution of this work we took the novel focus proposed by the project ELANEM (Euro-Latin American Network for environmental assessment and monitoring) that is taken to end by a team of ten universities and European investigation centers and Latin Americans inside the program INCO of the European Union.

With the objective of applying unites consistent methodology in determining the environmental quality of the territory of the municipality of Bauta, by means of the election of a group of quantitative indexes, we took like work base the materials and information facilitated by the government and the different organisms and institutions of the territory. This objective is die for the necessity of designing development models, sustainable in socioeconomic and environmental terms that can be evaluated by general, significant and simple concrete indicators of application of obtaining.

As a result a group of indicators of pressure, state and answer were obtained for each one of the approached qualities: Naturalness, Source of resources, sink of wastes and support/services, being assigned to all the indicators five levels of the corresponding value and applying the indexes of environmental quality to each one of these qualities, being obtained with the application of the arithmetic mean the environmental quality of the territorial unit of the municipality Bauta.
